Entwined Bellydance & The Svadisthana Project at Rainbow Serpent Festival 2015

The Svadisthana Project is a recent collaborative project of Entwined Bellydance. The Svadisthana Project will present two performances at the Turkish Delight night on the Saturday of Rainbow Serpent Festival 2015, Saturday 14 January in Lexton, Victoria.

Choreographed by Laura Entwined, both an emerging Melbourne choreographer and teacher, alongside her dedicated student and guest dancer Bea Aguila, their first piece of the evening is a nod to her diverse European roots, and brings together her love of tribal fusion and gypsy bellydance with a modern take on traditional Balkan urban folk music which emerged in the 19th century and draws on a plethora of influences including the Ottoman empire. In their second and final performance for the evening, they will take you on a journey to the old world showcasing the beauty and hypnotism of slow serpentine tribal improvised style bellydance, before taking you into a new dimension with a modern remix on Balkan, contrasting divine temple movements with sinuous, fast and furious tribal fusion isolations.

Laura will also be teaching a workshop at RSF 12noon – 1pm on the Chill Stage, Saturday of the festival, and more info can be found at www.rainbowserpent.net

This will be Laura’s 4th performance year and 3rd year presenting a workshop at the festival.
