TUESDAYS
6.15-7.30pm – Tribal Bellydance Foundations
This class focuses on posture, torso, carriage, arms, upper back, fitness for bellydance, endurance and muscle mechanics of flamenco and classical Indian inspired tribal style bellydance. Drills and conditioning for beginner to advanced dancers. Suitable for the complete beginner.
7.30-8.45pm – Tribal Style Bellydance
This class seamlessly weaves together the best combinations from the American Tribal Style bellydance format and ATS-inspired dialects. This series will continue to focus on moderate to faster paced movements with turning and travelling variations – Level 1 – 3 movements. Combinations can be improvised in troupe format. Open to beginner – advanced dancers. Community style performance opportunities for dedicated dancers. Bring your zils/finger cymbals for our weekly drills!
THURSDAYS
6.15-7.30pm – Tribal Fusion Basics
This class focuses on the contrasting nature of tribal fusion bellydance – serpentine, sinuous and flowing movements contrasted with glitchy/modern urban dance-inspired pops, locks and ticks. Drills and conditioning for beginner to advanced dancers. Some understanding or experience of dance/bellydance/tribal bellydance basics is useful.
7.30-8.45pm – Tribal Fusion Creative Lab
This class weaves together tribal bellydance foundations, improvised tribal style and tribal fusion basics into combinations and choreography sequences. Fast-moving for more intermediate dancers or beginners wanting a challenge. Performance opportunities for dedicated dancers reaching a high proficiency in this style. This term we will be developing a new group choreographic piece playing with angles, levels, fades and timing. There will be some space for student input – so budding choreographers welcome.
